Benefits of high intensity interval training (HIIT)
HIIT describes any workout that alternates between intense bursts of exercise followed by a recovery exercise or rest period. Studies have highlighted how this type of training is not only time efficient but very effective. Research has shown that a 15 minute HIIT work out burns more calories than a one hour jogging session. A HIIT work out will burn more calories and fat in the following 24 hours post exercise as it increases your metabolism as the work out will stimulate production of HGH (human growth hormones) for the next 24 hours.
HIIT class does not involve boxing – rather it is a 45 minute strength and conditioning class. It incorporates exercises such as interval training, sprints, bodyweight work, weights, resistance bands, slam balls and lots of other fun stuff to strengthen your body and build your endurance to high intensity training which is what boxing is.
